Song Sunday – Mere Maa

First, a howdy (namaste? howdy? same thing, right?) to all our recent commenters. We’ve been a little busy to reply, but you should see us dashing up the stairs to tell the other “We got a comment!” :) Our big project for this week is to get up some links to other blogs and maybe give a little description of why we like and read them. It’s so great to see so many of our favorite bloggers visiting us! Main thrilled hoon.

Now to the song! I’ve been very, very, very slowly watching Taare Zameen Par with Aamir’s commentary, and thinking about what a masterpiece of cinematography that movie is! He’s so careful about movie making.

Darsheel, of course, is brilliant and adorable. My heart aches whenever I watch this song. So of course I watch it constantly. Mere Maa:

Song Sunday – Aaoge Jab Tum

This is a song from Jab We Met. I keep coming back to it, and as I was trying to think of a video to share today, it kept popping up. It’s so endearing, like the whole movie. And these days I sometimes feel like I can identify with Geet (Kareena’s) confusion and frustration, so I particularly enjoy this song.

I hope you’ve had a great Sunday and are ready for the coming week. I’m going to try to keep on top of things around here, but our town’s annual Tulip Festival is approaching, and I know it will be a crazy busy weekend, so if we fall of the face of the earth for a few days, don’t worry– we’re just off dancing in wooden shoes. :)

Song Sunday – Kholo Kholo

It’s Sunday again! I actually had a terrible time coming up with a song to post today. We normally avoid lip-synching in favor of montage/action-type stuff for song Sunday songs; sometimes it can be hard to think of something (and if you haven’t noticed, it’s been me, Sarah, posting the past few days instead of Hannah, because she’s been off visiting friends, so I’ve been running out of fresh material pretty quickly).

Anyway, I finally decided to give you Kholo Kholo from Taare Zameen Par, it’s very pretty and very awesome. Sometime soon I will have to update you on my Aamir watching activities, since Hannah and I recently watched Ghajini together, and I just watched Fanaa (it’s on Netflix Instant Watch!), and I will hopefully re-watch Rang De Basanti so I can do justice to it in a review. Oddly, all three of those movies I listed make me cry and shout “Kyun? Kyun?!?!?” (“why? why?”) at the TV. I guess that’s just Aamir for you. Anyway, here’s your song.

Song Sunday – Masakali

I didn’t manage to get to Delhi 6 last week (no pun intended) but I will this week. Tomorrow! Even if it kills me.

Masakali is sung by Mohit Chauhan. You may remember that he sang Tum Se Hi, from Jab We Met (or you may not. I didn’t). The music is by the always amazing A. R. Rahman, and the lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi.  I haven’t been able to find a good translation, but the gist of it is this– Fly and be free.

Picturized on Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. If you like it, you can purchase the mp3 from Amazon.

Song Sunday – Kaise Mujhe

Here goes with you song for Song Sunday. It’s from Ghajini. I’m not going to tell you much more, because I’m going to cry just thinking about the movie. *sniff* Anyway, I love this song; it’s just packed with emotion, and it’s by A.R. Rahman, who pretty much totally rocks. What’s more, it’s picturized (I love that word) on Aamir and Asin, so the video is lovely too!
